July 23, 2015_IMG_2446Cydney Luong is currently a user experience design leader at Capital One. She is leading a design team to innovate and improve upon bank products by helping teens through adulthood make healthier financial decisions.

She began her career as a journalist, interning at the Washington Post, writing for the Las Vegas Sun, and launching Greenbelt Patch for AOL.

She moved on to lead social media efforts for several Discovery Channel programs. Later, she combined all of these skills to manage web content and social media at Children’s National Health System. Working in healthcare, Cydney realized the industry’s digital ventures needed upgrading. She knew there was much work to be done, but didn’t know where to begin.

In the summer of 2015, Cydney enrolled in General Assembly’s User Experience Design Immersive class, where she learned how to transfer her skills as a journalist to improve user experiences with web and mobile products. She hopes to continue to help people interact digitally by improving accessibility through design and content.

Prior to her current role, she was a user experience designer at at Threespot, a Washington, DC-based digital agency that focuses on helping clients that make positive social change. She has created meaningful user experiences for clients like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Advisory Board, and the USO.
