Background
The Advisory Board has worked with the team for several years on multiple projects a year. The trend has always been to iterate on specific areas of their websites, constantly testing and improving it.
Problem
For the case study project, Advisory Board wanted to tell stories better. Often, case studies need to be written with short deadlines, so they were looking for a template that would generate a case study quickly and easily, while still being engaging.
Role
UX Research | Wireframing
Solution
I created a component library of 14 interchangeable components to help content writers assemble attractive, engaging, and responsive case studies instantly. The template was built with flexibility in mind, so whether the audience was familiar with Advisory Board and arriving to the page from an email newsletter or new to the site, each case study could be customized. Components were chosen based on audience goals revealed in stakeholder interviews.
Process
- Researched similar firms for content design inspiration
- Sketched ideas for individual components
- Developed a library of components that could be combined in different ways to tell a story
Wireframes with annotations vs. final design
Goals accomplished
- Encourage readers to move down the page
- Provided navigation for longer case studies, making them feel more like standalone pages
- Added color and interest to formerly plain article pages

The component library revealed how each of the components reacted responsively.
