Challenge
Create a product that would allow users to search Instagram using keywords and locations.

Background
For this project, I lead the UX process for a team of four developers in the General Assembly Web Development Immersive class in a three day hackathon.
Research
We only had a small amount of time to do research, so we decided to focus our product on someone who is not the target audience of Instagram, with hopes of introducing them to the platform – 26-year-old male.
Early Sketches
With our persona in mind, I lead a design studio to come up with the MVP (minimum viable product), which was a platform that would show you what’s happening at the stadium where your favorite team is playing, so you can get the feeling of being at the game when you can’t attend.

User Interviews
The moment we learned no one would use the original idea.
I conducted several user interviews and found out that users interested in sports who were not able to attend a game, would be more interested in using apps they already have, like ESPN, rather than searching for photos. But, all of the interviews revealed that if they wanted to search a location, they were most likely doing so to find a vacation spot and figure out what the weather and atmosphere was like before they got there.
New Direction
Our team was inspired by this new finding and decided to create an app that helped users delightfully discover a new location and see what the area is like near by.
How It Works
Users type in a keyword like, “sunset.” Trip.me reveals the most recent sunset posts and then the user clicks on the one they like best. This generates a map of where the photo was taken and then shows the most recent photos that have been taken in 5 km radius.
